Monkeypod Samanea saman
Monkeypod is easy to work with both hand and machine tools, and it glues and finishes well. The color tends to be a golden to dark brown, sometimes with darker streaks. The sapwood is usually thin and yellow/white. Monkeypod is sometimes seen with highly figured curly or wild grain patterns. The grain is usually straight, but can also be interlocked or wavy.
Typical Uses: Monkeypod is great for veneer, plywood, cabinetry, furniture, musical instruments (guitars and ukuleles), and other small specialty wood items.
