Macassar Ebony Diospyros celebica
Macassar Ebony is black with yellowish or reddish brown streaks. The wood is very difficult to dry, but very stable after seasoning. Macassar Ebony is hard and heavy with a very fine texture. Takes a high glossy finish. Saw dust may irritate some people.
Typical Uses: Ornamental turnings, bottle stoppers, game calls, knife scales, tool handles, pool cue butts, archery bows, bowls, platters, peppermills, vases and a variety of other crafts.
